New single storey residence.
Completed late 2011, photography to be added soon.

A new single storey home. The challenge was to design this home on a small budget but without compromising the modern look and feel of the home. The solution was to work with more affordable materials to create interest in the buildings form, and floor plan of the building.

With north oriented towards the street – the least preferred option, the house is built around internal courtyards to capture the north light, thus maximising natural light and solar gain in winter and minimising this in summer.

With the absence of a top floor to work with, the shapes and forms of the front facade widen the front facade of the house to make it look more substantial, thus increasing its presence to the street. The elements work to create a focal point toward the entrance and create interest via the various elements and their shapes.
